Collecting...

When I was little I collected Disney ceramic character figurines. Then there was sand from different beaches and deserts around the world. Beach glass, dolls, postcards, Garbage Pail Kids, stamps...

Now I lust after robots, and photo booth strips, leterpress blocks and kitchy art... and beach glass...

Orange Crush

I have to brag here just a bit about my green thumb... or orange thumb. This little orange tree that came to me as a gift from my cousin Katie was just a tiny seedling when she arrived to my apartment via the good old trusty US Postal Service. I swear, I went out of town one weekend and when I returned she was all grown up! There was this... arm... reaching up towards the sky. Best part is, she is happy in my little sunroom. She likes the amount of water I give her (which is sporadic at best). Sometimes I leave her for a week at a time and she's still green and mighty. I love the way she brings the outdoors indoors even the middle of a bitter Chicago winter. Reminds me that life continues to bloom even in beigeness!

Kissy Face

Loving the digital camera. The setting here was so beautiful, and yet, we only captured our faces, full frame. Kissy face.

New Zealand

Some of the most spectacular views in all of New Zealand rushed by us through the windows of our car... or "Kiwi" as we affectionately called her. Thanks to the thousands of photos we could take without consequence, I got some good ones on an early morning drive between Te Anau and Queenstown. Of course, no photo will really ever do any justice to the landscape, or capture the moment. I was determined to get a few photos of sheep and we never really ever ended up stopping to shoot them. We must have seen thousands throughout our travels, but all my sheep photos are all from the car window with natural "motion blur." Hey, sheep happens.
